Wild Animal Park

A couple of weeks ago, Murry had a much deserved day off during the week. We decided to make the most of it by going to the San Diego Zoo's Wild Animal Park. What is the Wild Animal Park (WAP)? Fairly close to our home in North County San Diego, the WAP is an expansive park, covering over 1,800 acres. It houses over 3,000 animals from 400 species from all over the world, but what's unique about the WAP is that the animals on exhibition are not in cages, instead they roam an open space. Some spaces are larger than others, there's even a "Savannah" area. The WAP also offers safari tours and over-night camping trips on sight.

Anyway, we have passes to the zoo and the WAP and they are used frequently, though I am not sure I have posted many pictures of our adventures. Here are some for your viewing pleasure.

Emron loved riding in the back pack, at least for the first half of the trip. Once he got out, it was hard for him to go back. We had a really enjoyable time and more than anything, it was nice to spend some extra time with Murry!

Hope all is well.

Aspen

A Big Brother

We are happy to announce that we are expecting a little boy in June. I will try to get our latest ultrasound pictures up soon. I can't believe Emron is going to be a big brother!

Christmas 2009

I was going to forego the Christmas post this year, since Christmas has come and gone, but I was inspired by Renae's blog, so here's the low down:

Christmas morning Emron woke up about the usual time, 6:45ish, and we all came down stairs to find stockings and new gifts under the tree. Emron was immediately drawn to his new bike! He sat on it, and asked us to push him around the house, then he discovered the helmet. We put on his new "hat" he didn't want to take it off. Once the novelty of the bike wore off, or maybe it was the distraction of other presents, anyway, we moved on and opened stockings. Emron loved his new reindeer slippers and was able to finagle some first-thing-in-the-morning treats. Meanwhile, my cinnamon rolls had risen beautifully overnight and were placed in the oven. Emron opened presents, Murry opened presents, and I opened presents. Before we finished we needed a breakfast break. My first ever cinnamon rolls turned out really well, Murry thought they were awesome, Emron was too distracted to really care. Then it was back to the gifts. When we got to the Harry and David basket from my mom and step-dad, Emron bit into one of the apples before we knew what happened! Apparently, he wanted a healthy breakfast, what a goose! We continued with the great gifts, Emron understood unwrapping this year, but was definitely overwhelmed.

Anyway, we finished gifts and went to the park with Emron's new bike. We came home and took naps, we had a laid back dinner, and just a really nice day.

Thank you to everyone for the great gifts! We love them! And now for my lameness... No pictures on this post, instead, click here.

I hope you all had a really nice holiday. We sure did even though we were missing our families, always miss you guys!

XOXO,
Aspen
