The Weekend

So, it strikes me as kind of funny that today is Friday and I am just sitting down to write an update from last weekend.  Has a week really gone by already?  I guess so...

Anyway, last weekend was a little trying.  Murry injured his neck on Friday and wasn't feeling great on Saturday.  He has been working strange hours and neither of us had been getting as much sleep as we would like so we were a bit cranky.  This is on top of the fact that Murry is not the best patient, and that the weather had been gray for as long as I can remember.  Despite our moods, we were able to visit the Flying Leatherneck Museum, on Saturday, D-Day.  It was amazing to see old Marine uniforms and awards as well as get up close and personal to mostly Vietnam era planes and helicopters.  Emron has been fascinated with planes and helicopters since he was very small (when he would look up and track them flying over head, I knew he didn't have Murry's poor vision).  Now that he is a little older, Emron will point to the sky when he hears a plane or helicopter pass by.  He's adorable.  Needless to say, he enjoyed the museum.  His favorite attraction was the mini plane made for kids.  He would have stayed in the cockpit of that thing for as long as we would have let him.

Emron Reporting for Duty

Daddy, Emron and a Big Helicopter

Saturday night we had dinner with friends.  It was the first time we were able to eat the meal uninterrupted.  Emron was super good.  He loved playing with Gene, who is three and has lots of cool dinosaurs and cars!  At one point Emron even crawled into the bin of cars to sit on top of them and perhaps, in his mind, claim every car for himself.  The food was good, Emron was excellent and it was nice to spend some time with friends.

Sunday we didn't do much.  Church was fine, my lesson went okay.  I was pretty frustrated with my Sunday School kids but I am hoping the next time I teach they'll be less distracted.  We didn't do a whole lot during the afternoon.  We relaxed and went to the park to play catch.  It was a nice day to wrap up the weekend.

This week has been pretty busy.  I am still not sleeping as well as I would like for some reason, so I feel like I've been dragging all week.  Additionally, it's been very gray and cloudy here everyday which makes it hard for me to motivate.  Emron's big news of the week is that he is walking, kind of.  Emron has taken quite a few steps on his own this week but he has to be enticed with a toy or M&M and he walks toward his object of desire with such longing that he always collapses when he gets it.  It's progress.  I hope that he will be walking before his next doctor appointment on June 24!  Cross your fingers!

So Cute In My Lobos Jersey

We don't have much planned this weekend.  We are going to help clean the church tomorrow morning for about an hour, then we may go to the Zoo or Wild Animal Park.  We may take a drive and look at some houses, but nothing is set in stone.  I hope you all have a nice weekend!

XOXO,
Aspen

I hope Murry is okay. I can definitely sympathize with the lack of sleep and no motivation to do anything. After sleep for 8 hours straight two nights in a row (a first time ever), Adam woke up 4 times during the night last night. Each time he need a bottle and had to be rocked back to sleep. EXHAUSTING!!!

You asked about my birth control in a comment. They did change my birth control since I talked to you last I think. I'm on Microgestin Fe 1.5/30. I spoke with my midwife (the one I usually see) yesterday and she says I can stay on it temporarily until we take permanent measures. She's thinking I "shouldn't" get pregnant. It's not guaranteed, but we only have to hold a out a few more months.

It sounds like your family does so many fun things together when you get the chance. How is the house hunting coming? I thought you had placed five bids? Nothing came of it? Good luck!

Congrats to Emron taking his first steps. It's so much fun once they start walking!

Walking ... I thought you'd never walk. I walked at eight months, but you ... you didn't show much interest in it. I knew you could walk, only you didn't. When you finally did walk, about 14 months, it was as though you'd been practicing on the QT. I suspect Emron will do likewise.

Gray skies, yes, there was a bright light in the sky here today. The sun, I seem to remember. I have never seen a spring like this one, cool, wet and lush.

Thanks for the updates dear daughter.

I tell ya, Renae, the days of raising a young child, trying as they are, will pass before you know it. They seem endless, with endless challenges, but once they are gone you'll wonder, how can time pass so quickly?
